Homes on the canals off Naples Bay are built to face the water, which usually means a two-story wall of glass over the great room and skylights set into the high ceilings above it. Along Gordon Drive and the streets running down toward 21st Avenue South, that upper glass catches the canal air coming off the water all day — a steady mix of salt and the damp that hangs over the basins — and it sets a film high up where a squeegee on a pole was never going to reach evenly.
