A Sanibel cage does the hardest filtering job on this coast. The island faces the Gulf broadside, so the mesh combs salt and fine shell sand out of the air every single day, and the heavy conservation canopy over most lots keeps it from ever drying properly. The panels grey, the frame channels pack with sand and salt, and the corners and kickplate line go black in the damp.
