Estero's newer communities build tall cages — two-story picture-window enclosures facing the lake are standard through Miromar Lakes and West Bay Club — and that height puts most of the enclosure permanently out of an owner's reach. Meanwhile lake humidity keeps the mesh damp and irrigation clips the lower panels with mineral-heavy reclaimed water, so the cage has mold up high and calcium crust down low.

Screens are soft washed in place at low pressure, framing and the tall beams are cleaned including the top faces, the floor is washed at the pressure the travertine or pavers take, and the kickplates, tracks, and corners are hand-detailed.
